Stronger With You Absolutely — Emporio Armani, 2021

Rum opens it, warm and a little sticky, closer to the smell of an open bottle than to anything in a glass. Bergamot cuts across that within a minute and stops the sweetness settling too early.

Lavender runs through the middle and keeps a clean, almost barbershop edge on it. Underneath, cedar turns smoky and Madagascar vanilla comes up slowly behind the wood, dark rather than sugary. It sits close to the skin for the first hour, then widens out.

Armani built this as the heavier cousin of the original Stronger With You, which was chestnut, sage and daylight. Absolutely trades the daylight for evening. It is the one to reach for after dark.
